    <title>Mi az a GNOME?</title>
    <para>
      A GNOME egy felhasználóbarát grafikus környezet UNIX-os
      UNIX-hoz hasonló rendszerekhez. A GNOME-ban van panel
      (innen indthatod az alkalmazásokat és itt látod állapotukat),
      munkafelület (itt jelennek meg az adatok és itt helyezheted
      el az alkalmazásokat), szabványos grafikus eszköz- és
      alkalmazásgyűjtemény és egy olyan egyezményes körnezetet, amelyben
      az alkalmazások könnyen együttműködhetnek és kinézetük
      következetesen egyforma lehet.
      A GNOME környezet más operációsrendszerek és grafikus környezetek
      felhasználói számára is könnyen kezelhető. A GNOME több UNIX-hoz
      hasonló operációsrendszeren elérhető, többek között Linuxon,
      FreeBSD-n és Solarison is.

      A GNOME sok természetes nyelvet támogat, és hónapról hónapra újabb és újabb
      nyelveket "tanul meg". Mindezek felett a GNOME több "drag'n'drop" protokollt is

<sect1 id="conventions">
    <title>Az egérrel kapcsolatos konvenciók, ebben a leírásban</title>
    <para>
      A GNOME leírása előtt, vezessünk be néhány fogalmat. Ezek nem csak a jelen íráshoz
      lesznek hasznosak, hiszen ezeket használja minden GNOME-os súgófájl.
      Az egyik legfontosabb ezek közül, az egérgombok elnevezése, és
      a használatukkal kapcsolatos fogalmak.
    </para>
    <para>
      A legtöbb GNOME-os leírás abból indul ki, hogy szabványos (a
      UNIX-os rendszereken megszokott) 3-gombos egeret használsz, az
      egerednek jobb, bal és középső gombja van. Ha egy leírásban azt olvasod, hogy
      <quote>kattints</quote> valamire, a nélkül, hogy megjelölné, hogy ezt
      melyik egérgombbal tedd, a szerző a bal egérgombra utal.
      <!-- Some documents use notations <quote>mouse button
      1</quote>, <quote>mouse button 2</quote> and <quote>mouse button
      3</quote> (or MB1, MB2, MB3 for short) for left, middle, and
      right buttons respectively. -->
    </para>
    <para>
      Ha kétgombos egeret használsz, elulálhatod a harmadik gombot a
      jobb és bal gombok egyidejű lenyomásával.
      Ha görgős egered van, a görgő legyomásával érheted el a középső
      egérgomb nyújtotta lehetőségeket.
    </para>
    <para>
      Az <guimenu>Applications</guimenu> menü, <guisubmenu>Desktop
      Preferences</guisubmenu> almenüjében található <application>Mouse
      preference tool</application>-lal megváltoztathatod az egered gombkiosztását.
      Sok balkezes felcseréli a jobb és bal egérgombok logikai hozzárendelését.
      Hogyha te is ilyen balkezes beállítást használsz,
      a jobb gombot kell használnod az egyszerű kattintásnál, és a <emphasis>bal</emphasis>
      egérgombot, amikor a leírásban <quote>jobb-kattintásról</quote> olvasol.
    </para>
    <para>
      Ha a szoknányostól eltérő gombelrendezésű egeret használsz, ilyen lehet a
      hanyattegér, vagy bármilyen más speciális beviteli eszköz, saját magadnek
      kell kitapasztalnod, hogy melyik gombok felelnek meg a <quote>jobb</quote>,
      <quote>bal</quote> and <quote>középző</quote> egérgomboknak.
      Ez az információ általában megtalálható az eszköz kézikönyvében.
      Általában a <quote>bal</quote> egérgombot használod a mutatóujjaddal.

      Az ablakkezelő szolgáltatja az ablakok keretét, a címsávokat, a gombokat,

      A GNOME több ablakkezelővel is együtt tud működni. A legelterjedtebbek a

      jeleníthetik meg az ablakok <quote>díszítéseit</quote> és a gombokat (ezt hívjuk
      <quote>ablakkezelő témának</quote>).
      Mivel lehetelenség minden ablakkezelő minden téémáját bemutatni, mi a
      dokumentációban mindig a GNOME-mal szállított alapértelmezett ablakkezelőt írjuk le &mdash; ez a <application>Sawfish</application> &mdash;, a képernyőképeken pedig az alapértelmezett témát használjuk: ez a <guilabel>Crux</guilabel>. Note, however, that this list is for GNOME-related questions

        and it is impolite (to say the least) to ask a question without

	You should realize that GNOME is just part of your computer
	system. If you want to unleash the full potential of your
	computer, you need to understand not just GNOME but also the
	underlying operating system (UNIX/Linux/FreeBSD), various
	tools and utilities included with it, and its graphics system
	(X Window System). Each of these components usually comes with
	its own documentation. Most of UNIX commands and utilities are
        documented in so-called <quote>manual pages</quote>, or man pages
        for short. You can view them using
	<application>Yelp</application> help browser
        (see <xref linkend="Gnome-docs"/>). This documentation is usually
        very detailed and more technical than most users would like.
        Another documentation format used by utilities from the
	GNU project is called <quote>info pages</quote>. They, too,
	can be viewed using <application>Yelp</application>. Many
	applications also have documentation in other formats. Sometimes
`        it is not easy to find documentation for a given application &mdash;
        try looking in the directories <filename>/usr/share/doc</filename>
	and <filename>/usr/doc</filename>
      </para>
      <para> Documentation for operating system itself varies from one
        system to another. The best advice is to check the printed manual
        which came with your system. For Linux, a good source of information
        is the Linux Documentation Project (LDP); you can read their
        documentation on the Internet (at <ulink type="http"
	url="http://www.linuxdoc.org">http://www.linuxdoc.org</ulink>).
	Virtually all Linux distributions also include copies of LDP
	documents; usually they are found at
	<filename>/usr/share/doc/LDP</filename> or
	<filename>/usr/share/doc/HOWTO</filename>.
      </para>

	And of course, there is a number of books available about all
	flavors of UNIX/Linux, GNOME, and about anything else you might
        be interested in. Check your local bookstore.
